The News Tribune’s Gregg Bell said don’t “be surprised at the playing time and opportunities” rookie RB Zach Charbonnet gets this season.

Charbonnet has impressed teammates, coaches, and Seahawks beat writers during OTAs. “Zach does everything well,” head coach Pete Carroll said Thursday. “He’s just a complete ball player.” Charbonnet, taken with the 52nd pick of the 2023 NFL Draft, could be the Seahawks’ primary pass-catching running back after Ken Walker struggled as a pass catcher in 2023. Charbonnet is a solid draft target for fantasy players who largely fade running backs in the early rounds. Rotoworld analysts recently broke down the Seattle backfield and how fantasy managers should value Walker and Charbonnet.

Ravens signed WR Laquon Treadwell, formerly of the Seahawks, to a one-year contract.

The Ravens continue to bolster their wide receiver corps heading into this season, but Treadwell is little more than added depth on a roster that boasts Odell Beckham Jr., Rashod Bateman, Laquon Treadwell, and Nelson Agholor. After being released by the Jaguars last August, Treadwell caught on with the Seahawks last December, appearing in six games while catching six passes for 42 yards. He’ll compete with Devin Duvernay, James Proche, and a slew of players hoping to crack the 53-man roster at the conclusion of training camp.

Speaking Thursday, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said there is still “no firm timetable” for SS Jamal Adams’ (quad) return.

Carroll did put a timetable on having a timetable, however, saying he expected to know more about both Adams and Jordyn Brooks’ (knee) status in “6-8 weeks.” Whatever you say, Pete. After missing nine combined games his first two seasons in Seattle, Adams was limited to only one appearance in 2022. That he still remains without a timetable for an injury he suffered last Week 1 is obviously a poor sign. On the other hand, Carroll just kind of says things when it comes to injuries. We would consider Adams genuinely questionable for the opener against the Rams.

Seahawks RT Abraham Lucas is recovering from shoulder surgery.

He has been limited in OTAs. Coach Pete Carroll said Lucas “should” be ready for Week 1. Unspoken in those words is that he might not be ready for training camp. The No. 72 overall pick of last year’s draft, Lucas was a 16-game starter for the Seahawks’ improved offensive line, earning solid marks from Pro Football Focus.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Seahawks CB Tariq Woolen underwent knee surgery and will be out until training camp.

It’s a potential blow for Seattle’s secondary, which Pro Football Focus graded as last season’s 12th worst coverage unit. Woolen, a 2022 fifth round draft pick, tied for the league lead in interceptions (6) last year. PFF graded Woolen as the league’s 13th best cover corner. His training camp participation could be limited if he’s not fully recovered from his knee surgery.

Seahawks signed No. 108 overall pick G Anthony Bradford to a four-year contract.

Seattle now have seven of their 10 draft picks under contract as OTAs open around the league. Bradford is expected to serve as a depth piece behind presumed starting left guard Damien Lewis in the coming season, but the fourth-round rookie still has OTAs, camp, and the preseason to stake his claim to a starting role to begin 2023.

Seahawks re-signed CB Artie Burns to a one-year contract.

Burns appeared in just one game in 2022, playing 16 defensive snaps in Week 5. The former first-round pick played four seasons for the Steelers before missing the 2020 season with a torn ACL. He was then signed by the Bears and played in a utility role in the secondary during the 2021 season. Expect Burns to be utilized in a similar fashion with the Seahawks for the coming season, with multiple injuries being his likeliest path to playing time.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba

Seahawks signed No. 20 overall pick Jaxon Smith-Njigba to a four-year contract with a fifth-year option.

Smith-Njigba figures to be a big part of Seattle’s offense from the jump, boosting Geno Smith’s fantasy value and probably eating into targets for DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett to some extent. He’s had the highest rookie wideout ADP so far in best-ball drafts based on his strong prospect profile and will likely push the Seahawks to more 11-personnel sets right away.
Mario Edwards Jr.

Seahawks signed EDGE Mario Edwards, formerly of the Titans.

Edwards visited with the Seahawks in March and finally signs post-draft. He started seven games for the Titans last year, picking up three sacks and a career-high 11 quarterback hits. Edwards will be a depth piece on the defensive line and likely will be limited to situational pass-rushing duties.
Kenny McIntosh

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said RB Kenny McIntosh “easily” could have been taken in the third round.

Carroll went on to say that McIntosh is a “special” RB and noted that he is already thought of as a leader in the RB room. Though all this positive talk probably doesn’t augur well for Deejay Dallas, Carroll also said Ken Walker had a “fantastic” offseason. Carroll is often extremely positive and offers a lot of praise about his players in public, so we wouldn’t necessarily get carried away with this, but the fact that he got this kind of praise this soon does put McIntosh on the monitor list this offseason.
