Updates
July 9 - Bayern Munich make another bid for Harry Kane

A quick way to trophies is to start at center forward to Bayern Munich, and Harry Kane may just end up in Bavaria this fall after all.

Spurs — and Kane — have so far resisted any temptation to part ways this summer, and Tottenham was reportedly not impressed by a reported meeting between Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel and the England striker.

The bid is approximately $88 million plus add-ons, which would make the soon-to-be 30-year-old Kane one of the top-25 most expensive sales in football history.

That’s not quite how Spurs supporters would like to think of Kane, but at his age and with his contract winding down... well... if Kane wants the deal you have to think it’s a decent fee. And at Bayern... the add-ons are probably achievable.

At some point the move comes down to what Kane wants, and perhaps if he feels he can go away for a bit and still return with the power to set the Premier League goals record. Kane is 47 goals behind Alan Shearer .

July 9 - USMNT’s Aaronson unveiled by Union Berlin

Brenden Aaronson’s loan move to Union Berlin is official, the Bundesliga and UEFA Champions League outfit announced Sunday.

The USMNT playmaker leaves Leeds United, but only on loan; The 22-year-old and his 32 national team caps will get seasoning in continental competition for the third time after UCL and Europa League campaigns with Red Bull Salzburg.

Aaronson expressed his excitement for the move, while Union director Oliver Ruhnert had the following to say about the addition of a second USMNT player (Jordan Pefok scored fives times for Union last season).

“Brenden’s commitment has made us very happy, he is a type of player we don’t have who will be good for our attacking game. Despite his young age, he already has a lot of international experience and will complement our squad at a high level,” Ruhnert said .

Aaronson had a goal and three assists for Leeds in all competitions last season. (NM)

July 9 - Newcastle eyeing $55 million phenom from Lyon

Could Rayan Cherki be getting a new club for his 20th birthday next month?

The Lyon teenager with an impressive resume and explosive comparative numbers — read on — is said to be the focus of a bid from Newcastle that could reach $55 million.

Cherki made his senior Lyon debut within a few months of his 16th birthday and it was no fluke; The France youth international, also eligible to represent Italy and Algeria, has gone on to rack up 100-plus appearances.

Last season was a sensational one for the attacking midfielder who can play out wide and has piled up absurd dribbling and passing numbers. Cherki scored four times with six assists and FBRef compares his last year to an absurdly-high caliber of player (see below).

Newcastle has had great success with its latest Lyon import, Bruno Guimaraes, who will be able to issue solid intel on Cherki. This move tracks with the profile of player wanted by the UEFA Champions League club, and Lyon could use the funds to retool a squad that’s missed out on Europe for two-straight seasons.

Lyon said the player is not for sale after an “insulting” offer of less than $20 million from Paris Saint-Germain last season. At the time $32 million was rumored as a price point, so $55M might just make Lyon a begrudging seller.

July 9 - Chelsea given price for 19-year-old Brazilian starlet

Matheus Franca is said to be intrigued by moving from Rio to London as Chelsea’s simmering interest in the playmaker may be picking up to a boil according to a report from Fabrizio Romano.

Franca, 19, will be able to get plenty of insight on Chelsea from current teammates David Luiz and Filipe Luis. The Flamengo attacking midfielder has been billed as one of the club’s best ever prospects, a club that has sent Vinicius Junior, Lucas Paqueta, Adriano, and Julio Cesar through its ranks.

The cost is said to be around $25 million for Franca, who has struck nine times in 54 senior appearances for Flamengo and is also a rumored target for Real Madrid.

July 8 - Juventus in talks with Chelsea to sign Romelu Lukaku

Romelu Lukaku is a man in demand in Italy as the Chelsea forward is wanted by Inter Milan and now Juventus.

According to a report from our partners in the UK at Sky Sports , Juventus are in talks with Chelsea to sign Lukaku. The Belgian forward, 30, spent last season on loan at Inter Milan and it was expected that he would head back to Inter on loan or on a permanent basis once again this season.

Per the report, Juventus want to sign Lukaku and Inter have ‘yet to make a satisfactory offer offer to Chelsea’ and need to sell players before they can spend. With Andre Onana expected to join Manchester United next week, perhaps that unlocks the funds for Inter to sign Lukaku?

Amid interest from Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal, it is believed that Lukaku prefers to stay in Italy and he has previously spoken about his love for Inter. Surely he wouldn’t play for Juve, right? It doesn’t seem like Lukaku has a future at Chelsea under Mauricio Pochettino but if things aren’t sorted out soon, Pochettino has said that Lukaku is expected back at Chelsea by July 12-13 to start preseason training.

July 8 - David de Gea leaves Manchester United

David de Gea has announced he has left Manchester United as a free agent.

The Spanish goalkeeper has spent the last 12 years at Old Trafford and has been sensational for most of that period, as he will go down as one of the best goalkeepers in United’s history.

It was widely expected he would sign an extension to his contract which expired on June 30, 2023. However, they didn’t materialize and he is now looking for a new club.

De Gea won the Golden Glove award in the Premier League last season, keeping 17 clean sheets. He still had a few errors but overall he has been a very reliable goalkeeper for Manchester United and pulls off some incredible stops.

It looks like United will bring in Inter Milan’s Andre Onana as their new No. 1 but where next for DDG? He has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia and some of Europe’s biggest clubs and the 32-year-old will not be short of suitors.

July 8 - Manchester United locked in talks with Inter over Andre Onana deal

Manchester United are locked in talks with Inter Milan about signing goalkeeper Andre Onana and it appears they will sign him very soon.

According to Fabrizio Romano, United are in talks with Inter Milan as discussions are ongoing and the final bid will ‘arrive soon’ as the Red Devils hope to take Onana on their tour of the USA this summer. It is believed that Onana wants the move to United to link up with Erik ten Hag who was his former coach at Ajax.

With David de Gea leaving United, they are now fully focused about bringing in a new No. 1. Onana has been excellent for Ajax and Inter and at the age of 27 he could be United’s goalkeeper for the next 10 years. He is also comfortable playing out of the back, which is a big deal for the way Erik ten Hag wants United to play.

July 8 - Report: Chelsea, Milan agree fee for Christian Pulisic

It appears that Christian Pulisic is extremely close to sealing his move to AC Milan from Chelsea.

According to a report from Fabrizio Romano, Milan have agreed to pay a transfer fee of $24 million plus $2.2 million in add ons to Chelsea. There is also reportedly a sell-on clause in the deal so Chelsea would receive a percentage of any future transfer fee Milan receive for the American winger.

For many weeks now it has seemed like Milan was the best option for Pulisic and his preferred destination. This is a chance for the 24-year-old to play regularly in a league which suits his skill-set perfectly, he will be in the Champions League and if he can stay free of injuries, he should become a star in Milan.

It remains to be seen where he will play in Milan as Rafael Leao currently operates on the left wing but Pulisic is versatile and can play centrally or on the right if needed. His time at Chelsea just never went as he expected it to and aside from his brilliant performances during the Blues’ run to win the Champions League in 2021, Pulisic’s time at Stamford Bridge was blighted by injuries and constant managerial changes.

July 6 - Chelsea has interest in Arsenal, USMNT striker Balogun

Folarin Balogun has been linked with big names in France, the Netherlands, and Italy after his big loan season away from Arsenal, but could his next club be inside the Premier League?

Chelsea is said to have interest in the USMNT striker following his breakout year with Reims, and has reportedly started talks with his representatives . Balogun, 21, scored his age in goals last season but returns to an Arsenal side with Gabriel Jesus and others in a loaded attack force.

Gregg Berhalter hopes that Balogun is the answer to the USMNT’s striker question heading into Copa America and with a home World Cup not too far in the distance. A move to Chelsea would seemingly present road blocks with Christopher Nkunku especially with the Blues’ empty European dance card this summer.

Balogun will back himself wherever he goes, but surely there are better bets for him this summer?

July 6 - Chelsea ‘make contact’ over bargain Paulo Dybala move

Paulo Dybala’s remarkable season for Jose Mourinho at AS Roma could see the Argentine benefiting Chelsea’s new boss.

Mauricio Pochettino may get Dybala in the fold for next season at a price of barely $15 million for the 29-year-old, as his release clause is less expensive for clubs outside of Serie A.

Dybala thrived at Roma, scoring 18 times with eight assists across all competitions despite twice missing three weeks with injuries.

Could the World Cup winner join international teammate Enzo Fernandez under another fellow Argentine in Pochettino?

July 5 - Declan Rice deal structure ‘agreed’ as $134 million deal nears completion

Declan Rice to Arsenal should be completed soon as the structure of how the huge $134 million transfer fee will be paid has reportedly been agreed.

According to The Guardian , Arsenal will pay $127 million to West Ham in three instalments over the next two years. There are also add-ons of close to $7 million.

Per the report, Rice will have his medical at Arsenal this week and will soon be confirmed as their player. The England international always wanted this move to the Gunners and he is set to become the focal point of Mikel Arteta’s midfield with Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey moving on.

Rice is worth this huge transfer fee and he has everything Arsenal need to become more powerful and reliable in the engine room as he will win the ball back and feed their talented attacking unit.

July 5 - Mason Mount to Manchester United confirmed

Manchester United have confirmed the signing of England international Mason Mount from Chelsea on a five year contact with the option of an extra year. It is believed the Red Devils have signed Mount for a fee of up to $76 million, including add-ons. Mount, 24, will be a valuable addition to Erik ten Hag’s midfield as he can play in multiple positions in attacking and slightly deeper areas.

July 5 - Bayern Munich continue to push for Harry Kane

Bayern Munich are not giving up their pursuit of Harry Kane and a report from German outlet BILD has an intriguing update.

Per the report, current Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel has met with Harry Kane at his home in London in a bid to convince the England superstar to leave Tottenham for Bayern Munich this summer.

Apparently Kane is very interested in joining Bayern Munich and with just one year left on his current contract, it appears that Tottenham may have a decision to make as Bayern will continue to push to sign Kane who can agree to sign on a free transfer for a non-English club in January 2024. It is obvious Spurs would prefer to sell Kane (if they sell him at all) to a non-English club so they don’t strengthen a direct rival.

Is Kane really going to leave Tottenham this summer? All signs point towards him staying at Spurs for one more season and leaving on a free transfer next summer as he will then get to choose his destination. Kane’s preference surely has to be to stay in the Premier League and break the all-time goalscoring record and he could do that if he moved to Manchester United next summer.

Of course, the other option is that he remains at Tottenham but reports like these suggest he is seriously thinking about moving on elsewhere and maybe even doing so this summer.

July 4 - Mason Mount confirms Chelsea exit

Mason Mount has confirmed his exit from Chelsea as he posted an emotional farewell video on social media. Mount, 24, is expected to be announced as a Manchester United player in the coming hours as the England international leaves Chelsea after 18 years with the Blues. After joining Chelsea at the age of six Mount has gone on to win the Champions League and become a valuable player and fans’ favorite at Stamford Bridge. But now he’s heading to Old Trafford and in his farewell message he acknowledged this is what he wanted to take the. next step in his career. Only time will tell whether or not Mount has made the right decision but the attacking midfielder has certainly made a big call and now he will focus on nailing down a starting spot in Erik ten Hag’s midfield.

July 4 - Liverpool ‘make contact’ with Romeo Lavia

The race to sign Romeo Lavia is heating up with Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool all pushing hard to sign the teenager.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool have reached out to Lavia’s agents about signing him from Southampton. The 19-year-old is said to be valued at $63.5 million by Southampton, who signed him from Manchester City last summer.

The central midfielder had an amazing first season in the Premier League and is destined for big things. Per a buy-back clause in his contract, Lavia can be bought back by Man City for $50 million next summer so recently-relegated Southampton are probably going to sell him this summer to get more money.

Lavia was just named on the prestigious Golden Boy award shortlist and is already a full Belgium international. Given Liverpool’s need for plenty of reinforcements in midfield, Lavia fits the bill of a Jurgen Klopp player as he wins the ball back early and often and could become the long-term replacement for Fabinho in that role.

July 4 - Chelsea keen to re-sign Tino Livramento

Chelsea are continuing to make moves as their huge rebuild continues and they could bring Tino Livramento back to Stamford Bridge.

According to a report from The Daily Mail , Chelsea will offer $48 million to Southampton for Livramento, 20. The attacking right back has been the subject of several bids from Newcastle this summer but Southampton are keen to keep hold of the England U21 star who was excellent in his debut Premier League campaign in the 2021-22 season before suffering a serious knee injury which kept him out for the majority of last season.

Livramento has incredible potential and Chelsea sold him to Southampton for $10 million in the summer of 2021. Per the report, Chelsea would be open to loaning Livramento back to Southampton for the upcoming season.

July 4 - Arsenal set to make move for Romeo Lavia

Arsenal are having a very busy summer and Mikel Arteta will reportedly add another central midfielder after sealing the deal for Declan Rice.

According to The Times , Arsenal will bid for Romeo Lavia from Southampton as soon as the deal for Rice is confirmed. Per the report, Mikel Arteta is a huge fan of the Belgian international midfielder who was superb as a teenager in the Premier League last season.

$63.6 million is the price Southampton want for Lavia who joined from Manchester City last summer. The likes of Chelsea and Liverpool have also been linked with a move for the 19-year-old who is very good at winning the ball back, reading the game and getting his team on the front foot.

Lavia will be a perfect player to sit alongside Rice in Arsenal’s midfield as the duo of Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey both appear to be moving on this summer.

July 4 - Arsenal want $63 million for Folarin Balogun

USMNT striker Folarin Balogun will be a target for plenty of teams this summer but quite a few may be put off by this price tag. According to our partners in the UK at Sky Sports, Arsenal have slapped a $63 million value on Balogun. The striker had a sensational season on loan at Reims in Ligue 1 last season (scoring 22 goals) and impressed for the USMNT as they won the CONCACAF Nations League in June. This price tag does seem a little step for the 22-year-old forward but his clinical finishing is there for all to see so maybe this is the price you pay for a striker who will probably score 10-plus goals a season in one of Europe’s top five leagues?

July 3 - Everton hoping for $44M Almeria center forward

Everton was troubled whenever Dominic Calvert-Lewin was out of the lineup last year, and he wasn’t at his best upon returning from injury.

Sean Dyche wants reinforcements up top beyond “DCL” with Ellis Simms’ future uncertain, and a big swing would come in signing $44 million El Bilal Toure.

The 21-year-old Mali international joined Almeria from Stade Reims in September and scored seven times with two assists in 21 La Liga appearances.

He’s a force in the air and Sean Dyche has plenty of experience with aerial threats. (NM)

July 3 - Manchester United ‘agree terms’ to reunite player with Ten Hag

Italian outlet La Nazione says Manchester United has agreed terms with Fiorentina midfield maestro Sofyan Amrabat, but the Serie A club says nothing’s cooking... yet .

La Viola head honcho Joe Barone says that his club has not received a bid for Amrabat, though he acknowledged they will consider bids for the 26-year-old.

Amrabat played for Erik ten Hag at Utrecht and would fill a need in the midfield, where he’s a force of nature in possession and no shrinking violet, either.

United’s need to give backing to Casemiro but also provide a stiff test for opponents alongside the Brazilian would be well-served by this move, and Amrabat’s familiarity with Ten Hag makes the move a calculated risk. Transfermarkt lists his value as between $30-35 million. (NM)

July 3 - Brenden Aaronson to Union Berlin almost complete

This is a very good move for USMNT playmaker Brenden Aaronson, as he is set to join Bundesliga side Union Berlin on loan. According to The Athletic , Aaronson will sign for Union and he will be playing in the UEFA Champions League next season as they stunned everyone to finish in the top four of the Bundesliga in the 2022-23 season. It has previously been reported by numerous outlets that Aaronson had a relegation release clause in his contract, meaning he could leave on loan. Union Berlin feels like the perfect place for Aaronson to develop. At the age of 22 perhaps the move to the Premier League happened a little too early in his career and he should have moved to the Bundesliga from RB Salzburg to start with, then made his way to England. Aaronson started strongly in England but really struggled with the physicality of the Premier League and given Leeds’ issues all season long it was a very tough season for the Philadelphia Union academy product. At Union Berlin he will be able to fight for minutes right away and the style of play in the Bundesliga should suit him better.

July 3 - Manchester United focused on Andre Onana

With David de Gea’s Manchester United future uncertain, it appears Erik ten Hag is going all-in on Andre Onana becoming his new starting goalkeeper. Per a report from Fabrizio Romano , United are locked in talks with Inter Milan about signing Onana but they are yet to make a bid for Inter’s star goalkeeper. With David de Gea out of contract and more talks planned with United after he returns from celebrating his wedding over the last few days, it appears the Premier League giants are scrambling a little. The Spanish goalkeeper was expected to sign a new contract but there have been a few snags and now the Red Devils are looking elsewhere. Fast. The report also says that Feyenoord goalkeeper Justin Bijlow is an option for United as they search for plenty of alternatives to De Gea. However, Onana is their main target.

July 3 - Newcastle complete Sandro Tonali signing

This is a very big deal as Newcastle United have completed the signing of Italian international midfielder Sandro Tonali for a reported $70 million. Tonali, 23, was the focal point of Milan’s midfielder and his class on the ball and ability to dictate the tempo of a game will be hugely influential for Eddie Howe’s side as they aim to make a splash in the UEFA Champions League this season. The fact Newcastle have been able to pull this deal off is pretty remarkable and shows the kind of player they can now attract as they have both Champions League football and the considerable riches of their Saudi Arabian owners to offer. After careful additions over the last 12 months, the Magpies continue to add quality over quantity and their midfield just got a huge upgrade as Tonali alongside Bruno Guimaraes will be a joy to watch as they have the perfect blend of defensive capabilities, creativity and pure football nous.

July 3 - West Ham ‘make approach’ for Tyler Adams

USMNT midfielder Tyler Adams has been linked with several clubs this summer after Leeds’ relegation from the Premier League. This is perhaps he move which makes most sense for him. According to a report from The Daily Mail , West Ham have made an approach to sign Adams from Leeds this summer. David Moyes is set to have plenty of cash to spend on a new central midfielder as Declan Rice edges closer to a huge $130 million move to Arsenal. Is this a good move for Adams? He is probably going to play week in, week out at West Ham and they’re also in the Europa League group stage so yes, this would be a very good move for him. Also, West Ham love to play with at least one true holding midfielder and most of the time two, so Adams would slot in perfectly and provide the Hammers defense with the protection it needs. Is he Declan Rice? Nope. But Adams does a lot of similar things and it is clear he won’t play in the Championship with Leeds this season. The USMNT captain was superb for most of his debut campaign in the Premier League but a serious hamstring injury saw him miss the final months of the season and he was watched on in horror as Leeds were relegated from the top-flight. It would probably cost over $50 million for West Ham to sign Adams but that seems like a very good deal for all involved.

July 3 - Lyon make bid for Christian Pulisic; AC Milan remains preferred destination

USMNT star Christian Pulisic is the subject of a lot of interest as his time at Chelsea comes to an end. With just one year left on his current contract, it’s safe to say now is a good time for Pulisic to move on after and topsy-turvy four years at Stamford Bridge. According to a report from The Athletic Lyon have bid $27.2 million to Chelsea for the USMNT star but a report from ESPN says that the Pulisic would prefer a move to AC Milan and that Lyon could not match the wages Milan are offering to the American winger. Per the initial report from the London Evening Standard , Milan have been in talks with Chelsea to sign Pulisic but it is believed the stumbling block so far has been the transfer fee but they are working towards a deal. And another report from ESPN says that Pulisic has agreed a ‘long-term contract’ with Milan and is just waiting for the two clubs to agree that pesky transfer fee. All of this adds up to one thing: Pulisic prefers a move to AC Milan over Lyon as the former are in the UEFA Champions League. It is also a better fit for Pulisic’s playing style and although Lyon are a fine club, Milan are way ahead of them in terms of history, fanbase and their current playing squad. If Chelsea and AC Milan can’t agree a transfer fee then Pulisic will have to look elsewhere but it doesn’t appear he wants to head to France.

July 2 - Race intensifies for Arda Guler, dubbed “Turkish Messi”

Arda Guler is one of the brightest talents to come out of Turkey in ages, and his ultra-low release clause, relatively speaking, could make his summer extra hot.

Guler, 18, is being pursued by Barcelona, Newcastle, Real Madrid, and Liverpool amongst others, and all will consider his $20 million release clause very attractive given his potential.

The Fenerbahce starlet has nine goals and 12 assists in 51 senior matches for the Turkish powers, including one goal and three assists in his first 282 minutes of continental competition.

An attacking midfielder who also can play on the wings, Guler doesn’t turn 19 until late February, and scored against Wales last month in his fourth cap for Turkey.

July 2 - Liverpool make it official with $76 million Szoboszlai

It’s official and could be a Premier League shaker: Dominik Szoboszlai, the electric 22-year-old playmaker, is coming to join Alexis Mac Allister in Liverpool’s midfield rejuvenation.

The Reds struggled mightily in the middle of the park in their disappointing 2022-23 season and Szoboszlai is a big swing to fix that. He plays hungry in all phases of the game and should thrive in Jurgen Klopp’s Gegenpress.

Today’s a big win for Liverpool. Here’s what he told Liverpool’s web site:

“[A] really historic club, really good players, good coach, everything is good. For me it was perfect to make the next step in a club like this. The fans, the stadium, everything is really good.”

July 2 - Manchester United pushing for $88 million Real Madrid star

El Nacional says that Erik ten Hag has asked Manchester United to do what it can to sign Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni.

That will require quite a bit of money.

The ex-Monaco star, 23, was sought after by a host of top teams until opting to join Real last summer for a reported $88 million.

A year later, Tchouameni hasn’t hit his personal goals at Real but has shown his elite skill set on a new stage, and done it well.

And that’s led Real to keep the price tag on the midfielder, who can make a claim to being in the same class as Declan Rice, Enzo Fernandez, and Moises Caicedo.

Tchouameni is a tackling machine with terrific passing acumen who can dominate in the air as well. Arsenal is also said to be interested, but that would seemingly require the shocking collapse of a deal for Rice.

It really does seem a brilliant deal for United, as Tchouameni could learn from Casemiro and showcase other midfield attributes alongside the Brazilian.

July 1 - USMNT’s Zack Steffen linked with move away from Manchester City

USMNT goalkeeper Zack Steffen will be allowed to leave Manchester City on a permanent deal this summer, according to a report from ESPN . After spending last season on loan at Championship side Middlesbrough as they reached the playoffs but failed to secure promotion to the Premier League, Steffen is back at Man City. But not for long, it would be appear. Per the report, Leicester City are interested in signing Steffen but have yet to make a formal offer for the American goalkeeper. What is the link here? Former Man City assistant coach Enzo Maresca is the new Leicester boss and knows all about Steffen. However there is a snag as Man City are asking for a transfer fee for Steffen who is contracted to them until the summer of 2025. Moving to Leicester would be a pretty perfect fit for Steffen as the Foxes are expected to bounce back to the Premier League at the first time of asking. Leicester really struggled defensively last season, especially after losing Kasper Schmeichel in goal, and that was a big reason why they were surprisingly relegated. Steffen played well for Middlesbrough in the Championship and Leicester is a great opportunity for him to become a Premier League regular 12 months from now.

July 1 - Chelsea push to sign Moises Caicedo

Chelsea are pushing to sign Brighton and Ecuador midfielder Moises Caicedo, as Mauricio Pochettino continues his massive rebuild of the Blues squad. According to a report from the London Evening Standard , Chelsea are focused on signing Caicedo but Brighton want close to $130 million for the central midfielder. Chelsea have already had a bid of $76 million turned down but per the report Chelsea hope a fee of around $100 million could get the deal done. Caicedo would be the perfect N’Golo Kante replacement in midfield and alongside Enzo Fernandez they would win the ball back quickly and use it wisely. That is perfect for the way new boss Pochettino will ask them to play.

July 1 - Will David de Gea stay at Manchester United?

David de Gea is officially out of contract at Manchester United after his previous deal expired on June 30. Per the BBC , De Gea is getting married this weekend and no further talks have been held about signing a new deal at United. Per the report, some changes to a previously agreed upon deal are being sorted out and United won’t meet with David de Gea until after his wedding weekend and when he returns from his celebrations. What exactly is going on here? De Gea has been linked with a move away from Manchester United and the club have been linked with a move for Andre Onana, David Raya and several other goalkeepers. It appears this situation could become one of the sagas of the summer as although David de Gea sent out the following message via social media below, there is nothing boring about trying to figure out why one of the best goalkeepers in the world was able to run his contract down and could now, if he wanted to, sign for anybody for free.

July 1 - Liverpool agree to sign Dominik Szoboszlai

Liverpool have added one of the top young attacking midfield prospects in Europe with Dominik Szoboszlai, 22, set to join from RB Leipzig. Per a report from Fabrizio Romano, then multiple other outlets including the BBC , Liverpool have triggered the release clause in Szoboszlai’s contract. The Hungarian star burst onto the scene at RB Salzburg and has continued his progression at RB Leipzig over the last few seasons as he helped them win back-to-back German Cups. The transfer fee is $75 million and after the signing of Alexis Mac Allister for $45 million, Liverpool have done extremely well to sign two hugely talented and classy midfielders for $120 million. This will give them a huge upgrade in midfield areas and help them to control games and gives them extra balance and poise.

June 29 - Manchester United reportedly agree fee for Mason Mount

Mason Mount is set for a move from London to Manchester, as Man United will reportedly pay more than $75 million for the Chelsea man.

Mount, 24, had three goals and six assists in under 2,200 minutes for Chelsea last season, but is just a season removed from a wonderful 11-goal, 10-assist Premier League campaign.

The move will surely give Bruno Fernandes some relief after the Portuguese star chewed up nearly 4,300 minutes between Premier League and Champions League play.

He also has 36 England caps, with five goals for the Three Lions.

It’s a lot of money for Mount, as Man United continues to flex its spending power. Now it’s up to Erik ten Hag to integrate a talented player into the fold and also get the best out of him. (NM)

June 29 - Villa nearing impressive swoop for Villarreal star

Twenty-six year old Pau Torres has been linked with the Premier League’s “Big Six” sides for years, but looks set to join one of the division’s other blue bloods.

Aston Villa boss Unai Emery looks to be reuniting with his former Villarreal star in the Premier League, as Torres could pair with Tyrone Mings in an imposing center back pair.

A reported $44 million fee will bring the player to England.

Torres is a sensational ball mover who stands 6-foot-3 and has played in the neighborhood of 3,000 La Liga minutes in every season since his age 21 campaign.

He has 23 Spain caps and is an Olympic silver medalist. Presuming he adjusts to
a new league, this feels like a home run. (NM)

June 29 - Liverpool speaking with Dominik Szoboszlai

RB Leipzig star Dominik Szoboszlai is “moving up” Liverpool’s list of targets following a meeting with the Newcastle-linked player.

Szoboszlai, 22, has 10 goals and 13 assists across all competitions last season and piled up a whopping 175 shot-creating actions between Bundesliga and UEFA Champions League action.

A good presser with a high-running motor, Szoboszlai has a $76 million release clause that will reportedly expire on Friday .

He has good size and can be magic with the ball at his feet. Szoboszlai seemed a perfect fit for what Eddie Howe wants at Newcastle but Liverpool having serious interest makes a lot of sense. (NM)

June 28 - AC Milan want USMNT’s Yunus Musah

It appears that the number of USMNT players in Serie A is going to be plentiful after this summer transfer window. With Tim Weah set to arrive at Juventus and Christian Pulisic linked with a move to AC Milan , it seems like Yunus Musah will also be heading to Italy soon. According to Fabrizio Romano, Milan are in talks with Valencia over signing Musah and a fee of just $25 million should get the job done. That is a bargain for a player of Musah’s quality and his incredible positioning, plus ability to win the ball and then use it smartly, mean he will be a huge asset. If Musah can lock down regular minutes at Milan with Sandro Tonali expected to leave this summer, this will be a great move for him and for the USMNT.

June 28 - Bayern Munich set to improve Harry Kane offer

After a report from German outlet Bild said Harry Kane has agreed personal terms with Bayern Munich, a report from the BBC has said that Bayern plan to make an improved offer for the England captain. Our partners in Germany at Sky Sport say that a bid of $75 million from Bayern was turned down by Tottenham but the latest info is that the German giants will come back in with a new offer. Can we really see Kane swapping his beloved Spurs for Bayern? As he is so close to becoming the all-time Premier League goalscorer and is probably a season-and-a-half away from achieving it, it seems unlikely he will leave England anytime soon. But with just one year left on his contract at Spurs and the north London club seemingly unwilling to sell Kane to a direct rival in Manchester United, his options to move on this summer are dwindling. Real Madrid? Bayern? Perhaps the best thing for Kane to do is stick around for one more season but there’s no doubt Daniel Levy will want to get at least $130 million for Kane this summer. But clubs outside England can agreed to sign him for free from January 1, 2024. Kane pretty much has all of the power in this situation.

June 28 - James Maddison to Tottenham close

A report from Fabrizio Romano says that James Maddison to Tottenham for $50 million is close to completion and he will have his medical today. While a report from The Daily Telegraph says that Harry Winks will head to Leicester City for $13 million in a separate deal. There had been a breakthrough in talks over signing Maddison as Tottenham want the playmaker to be the creative force they’ve needed for a long time in midfield. For $50 million, this seems like a bargain for Spurs as in the right system Maddison can be a game changer.

June 28 - Manchester City ‘pull out of race’ for Declan Rice as Arsenal close in

This is now getting very interesting and seems like it will end with Declan Rice playing for Arsenal very soon. According to our partners in the UK at Sky Sports , Manchester City have pulled out of the race to sign Declan Rice as they aren’t prepared to up their bid of $114 million. With Arsenal having a bid of $130 million rejected by West Ham on Tuesday due to issues over the structure of the deal, the report says talks between the two London clubs are continuing on Wednesday. Is Rice worth this much? Hardly any player is. But one thing is for sure: if Arsenal sign Rice then their midfield will be set for most of the next decade. He’s that good and will make everyone else around him better. Now they are this close, Arsenal have to make this happen.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Rice to Arsenal could be confirmed over the next 36 hours as everybody is clear that he will be heading to the Gunners.

June 27 - Tottenham push to sign James Maddison

James Maddison will surely leave Leicester City this summer and it appears Tottenham are the front runners to sign the England international playmaker. Our partners in the UK at Sky Sports are reporting that Spurs are in talks with Leicester about signing Maddison but there is still plenty of debate about the potential transfer fee. Maddison has oozed class over the last few seasons but he couldn’t help the Foxes stay in the Premier League and plenty of top teams are trying to sign him. It appears he isn’t keen on a move to Newcastle so Tottenham is his main option and Maddison would be a great fit. Have they ever replaced Christian Eriksen? Maddison is the perfect creator they have needed for a long time.

June 27 - Brenden Aaronson the latest to join Fulhamerica?

According to The Daily Mail , Brenden Aaronson is wanted by Fulham and the Cottagers want to sign the USMNT playmaker on loan from Leeds United. After a bright start to life at Leeds in the Premier League, the attacking midfielder struggled at Elland Road as they were relegated from the top-flight. But with a reported relegaion clause in his contract meaning he can leave on loan, it appears he could make a swift exit from Leeds. Joining Fulham would be a great move for Aaronson and with silky playmkaer Andreas Pereira out injured for a lengthy spell, Fulham need an extra addition in the No. 10 role. In the right team Aaronson still has a lot to offer and the way Fulham play suits him way better than what he was asked to do at Leeds. Plus, with Tim Ream and Antonee Robinson around the Fulhamerica vibes will be even stronger down by the banks of the River Thames next season. Maybe Ream and Robinson can persuade Christian Pulisic and Weston McKennie to join them, along with Aaronson, at Fulham too?

June 27 - Ricardo Pepi to PSV close to completion

The USMNT transfer news just keeps on coming and Fabrizio Romano has the scoop. Ricardo Pepi has long been linked with a move to Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven and the striker is close to moving from Augsburg. Pepi excelled on loan at Groningen in the Netherlands last season and after never settling at Bundesliga side Augsburg, a move to PSV seems like a great fit for him. Pepi is still so young, just 21, and he has raw potential galore and is growing and developing all of the time. If he can nail down a starting spot at PSV and continue to score goals and develop alongside better players, like Tim Weah (see below) this will only benefit the USMNT. This is a huge summer for USMNT stars being on the move.

June 27 - Tim Weah close to confirming Juventus move

According to Fabrizio Romano, USMNT winger Tim Weah is close to signing for Juventus. This is a brilliant move for Weah and with both Angel Di Maria and Juan Cuadrado moving on this summer, there is a real chance of getting significant minutes out wide with the Italian giants. When fit, Weah has been huge for the USMNT and he had a fantastic World Cup out on the right wing. He has even filled in at full back for current club Lille at the end of last season and this move to Juve will test him further and if all goes well, it will benefit the USMNT. Weah has a very high ceiling and playing for a team like Juventus week in, week out and the pressure that comes with it will only see him improve. Max Allegri relies heavily on wingers who can work back defensively as well as surge forward and that suits Weah perfectly.

June 27 - AC Milan in talks to sign Christian Pulisic

According to a report from the London Evening Standard , AC Milan are in talks with Chelsea to sign Christian Pulisic. With Milan close to signing Ruben Loftus-Cheek too, and already having great success with signing Fikayo Tomori and Olivier Giroud from Chelsea in recent years, it appears the West London to Milan pipeline is in full-flow once again. Pulisic, 24, has just one year left on his current contract at Chelsea and it is highly-likely he will move on this summer. The report says that Chelsea still want $32 million for Pulisic which is putting clubs off, including AC Milan, as talks continue. Mauricio Pochettino has added Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson in attack as Chelsea rebuild under their new manager. Is a move to Italy good for Pulisic? Probably. It seems like a good tactical fit and the American winger will be able to build up minutes but probably not on the left flank as that is where Portuguese superstar Rafael Leao operates. This seems like a move which will work out well for everyone and it is time for Pulisic to move on from his time at Chelsea. Yes, he was pivotal in their amazing run to win the UEFA Champions League in 2021 but aside from a few incredible flashes his time at Chelsea has been disappointing for all involved.

June 27 - Bayern Munich ‘make bid’ for Harry Kane

According to a report from David Ornstein, Bayern Munich have made a bid for Harry Kane. Per the report the bid for Kane was $76 million plus add ons. But Tottenham instantly rejected the bid for their talisman. Kane, 29, has just one year left on his contract and Manchester United want to sign him. However, Spurs don’t want to sell Kane this summer and it looks likely he will leave on a free transfer next summer rather than heading abroad.

But our partners in the UK at Sky Sports says that Tottenham are yet to receive an official offer from Bayern for Kane. Unless something changes drastically this is going to carry on until January. At least.

June 27 - Manchester City have $114 million Declan Rice bid rejected

Okay, so this is getting very tasty now. According to Fabrizio Romano and The Athletic , Manchester City have had a bid of $114 million rejected by West Ham, as the race to sign Declan Rice is heating up. With Arsenal said to be the favorites to sign Rice, the England international is now attracting huge interest from the treble winners and he would be perfect for the way Manchester City play. Imagine Rodri and Declan Rice winning the ball back time and time again to feed Kevin de Bruyne and Co.? That would be ridiculous. Various reports says that Rice wants to stay in London and Arsenal is his preferred destination but the Gunners are yet to agree a fee with West Ham and the latter now have City involved so the price for Rice will be driven up further.

June 26 - Manchester United looking at USMNT’s Taylor Booth

A report from ESPN says that Manchester United are keeping a close eye on USMNT rising star Taylor Booth. The American midfielder, 22, has impressed at FC Utrecht in the Eredivisie and is apparently an alternative option to Mason Mount as United are struggling to seal a deal with Chelsea for the England international. Booth has had a dramatic rise in recent years and the former Bayern Munich academy product is ready for the next step from the Netherlands. Would a move to Man United be too big a jump too soon in his career? We may be about to find out. Worst case scenario he joins Man United and is then loaned out to gain more experience.

June 26 - Arsenal ‘make second bid’ for Jurrien Timber

Arsenal are moving closer to signing Jurrien Timber, according to Fabrizio Romano. The Dutch defender, 22, is a top target for the Gunners and per the latest report, Arsenal have made a second bid closer to Ajax’s asking price. Timber is versatile and comfortable on the ball and he can either play at center back or right back and will provide Mikel Arteta with a big upgrade in his defensive options. Timber has been linked with a move to the Premier League for some time and this seems like the perfect club at the perfect time.

June 26 - Ilkay Gundogan leaves Manchester City for Barcelona

It is officially official: Ilkay Gundogan is a Barcelona player. The German midfielder, 32, has left Manchester City as a free agent after a glittering seven-year stay as he was the captain who lifted the historic treble during the 2022-23 season. Gundogan came up clutch in so many big moments for City over the years and his understanding of the game was perfect for the way Pep Guardiola wanted to play. His move to Barcelona is on an initial two-year contract with the option of a third. Gundogan playing for Xavi also seems like a perfect tactical fit and his addition is a huge coup for the Catalan club as the silky midfielder had interest from Arsenal and Saudi Arabia but chose to head to Spain. Gundogan has proven himself as one of the best two-way central midfielders in Europe and he will now get the chance to be a leader at Barcelona, especially after the departure of Sergio Busquets.

June 24 - Juventus set price for Liverpool, Villa target Chiesa

Federico Chiesa could walk away from Turin this summer in the hopes of being a bigger piece to someone else’s puzzle.

And a report out of Italy says Juventus has set the price tag after over $65 million for the former Fiorentina star.

Chiesa, 25, is being linked with Liverpool, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, and Aston Villa, and would certainly be a marquee signing for a club.

He’s a top-level playmaker with good energy in the final third who is only two seasons removed from averaging double-digit goals and assists per season.

June 23 - Aston Villa linked with move for Tyler Adams

According to The Athletic , USMNT and Leeds midfielder Tyler Adams is a player interesting Aston Villa. Adams, 24, is the captain of the USMNT and was one of Leeds’ only bright spots from a terrible 2022-23 season which saw them relegated from the Premier League. Adams suffered a season-ending hamstring injury in March and his absence in Leeds’ midfield was a big reason why they were relegated. Would a move to Villa be a good fit? It would but USMNT fans would be concerned with how much he will play. Adams will have to compete with Douglas Luiz and Boubacar Kamara for playing time and those two holding midfielders were crucial to Villa’s amazing second half of last season as Unai Emery led Villa to seventh place finish and European qualification. Adams playing for Unai Emery would be brilliant for his development but the question remains: how many minutes would he actually get at Villa? (JPW)

June 23 - Nicolas Jackson deal almost done

The deal for Chelsea to sign promising Senegalese forward Nicolas Jackson from Villarreal is close to completion. Jackson had an incredible finish to last season in La Liga and is exactly the kind of player Mauricio Pochettino loves to work with to take to the next level. The young forward will line up alongside Christopher Nkunku next season and they will provide direct running, pace, pressing and finishing. This Chelsea side is going to be fun to watch and Jackson is set for a big role in the Blues’ rebuild. (JPW)

June 23 - Arsenal to make second bid for Jurrien Timber

Fabrizio Romano has reported that Arsenal will go back in and make a second bid for Ajax defender Jurrien Timber. The versatile Dutch international, 22, is said to be a ‘priority target’ for Mikel Arteta. And you can understand why. Timber is smooth on the ball, a great defender and he can play in a variety of positions. This is exactly the kind of defender Mikel Arteta loves. It could mean that Ben White would move back to center back and Timber would play right back, or vice versa. Timber had a fantastic World Cup for the Netherlands and he is ready to make this step to the Premier League to provide Arsenal with calmness on the ball and extra options throughout their defensive unit. (JPW)

June 23 - Kai Havertz set to complete Arsenal move

It appears that Kai Havertz will be announced as an Arsenal player early next week. Multiple reports, including the Guardian and Fabrizio Romano, say that Havertz’s move from Chelsea to Arsenal will become official. Havertz, 24, will reportedly cost Arsenal up to $81 million and his ability to link up and slot in anywhere across the final third is exactly why Mikel Arteta has made him a priority signing this summer. Havertz would not have been a great fit for the way Mauricio Pochettino wants Chelsea to play and moving on now is a very smart move by him. (JPW)

June 23 - Mateo Kovacic undergoing Manchester City medical

Per the Guardian , Mateo Kovacic is having his medical at Manchester City ahead of a $38 million switch from Chelsea. The Croatian midfielder is seen as the replacement for Ilkay Gundogan and this is a move which suits everyone. Chelsea have lost a brilliant player but the time was right for Kovacic to move on and he will slot in perfectly at Manchester City. His ability on the ball, runs off it and high-energy pressing is exactly what Pep Guardiola wants from his central midfielders. He has a lot to live up to in order to replace Gundogan but Kovacic, 29, can do it. (JPW)

June 23 - Mason Mount to Manchester United at pivotal stage

A report from our partners in the UK at Sky Sports says that Manchester United are ‘willing to walk away’ if their third bid for Mason Mount is rejected by Chelsea. Per the report, United will offer $70 million for Mount and have already agreed personal terms with the player. The report also claims that Chelsea want $80 million for Mount but United aren’t wiling to pay that for the England international who has just one year left on his current contract. Mount is a very good player but $70 million with just one year left on his deal seems like a very good offer for Chelsea. With the Blues offloading so many players this summer, many of them at a huge loss, Mount is one of their outgoing players they can get a big transfer fee for. That is probably why they are digging their heels in but it seems like Manchester United are running out of patience. (JPW)

June 23 - USMNT’s Tim Weah close to Juventus move

This seems like a good landing spot for Tim Weah, right? According to Fabrizio Romano, the USMNT winger is reportedly close to a $13 million move from Lille to Juventus and Weah, 23, will get to fight for minutes at one of Europe’s biggest clubs. In recent months he has been playing at full back for Lille but Weah has shown his incredible quality as a right-sided forward for the USMNT. Weah will challenge the likes of Federico Chiesa to compete with for a spot out wide but Angel di Maria and Juan Cuadrado have both left Juve this summer so there will be opportunities for him to get significant minutes. If Weston McKennie stays at Juventus and Christian Pulisic arrives at one of the many Italian clubs he’s been linked with, perhaps Serie A is the new place for the USMNT’s up and coming stars to thrive? (JPW)
